Phenomenal Woman of the Year Award 2010

What a wonderful luncheon event I attended on March 8th celebrating International Women’s Day. It was a real honor to be surrounded by so many talented and professional women who inspire me in so many ways. Prior to the event, I joined some of my colleagues and friends for a coffee at Starbucks.

The ladies I was sitting with asked me if I had a speech prepared as they believed I was going to win the 2010 Award for Phenomenal Woman of the Year. I didn’t have one because it didn’t really dawn on me that I was going to have to say anything, so in a moment of silliness, I held up my Starbucks coffee and took off the cup holder ripped it into four and stated that I was going to build my speech from there. And so I did. Here goes with my “light roast’ speech dedicated to my coffee girls (you know who you are).

ON BECOMING A PHENOMENAL WOMAN

Point One – Caution: Hot = When in business you have to be on fire for your business. You have to know where you are going and burn a hole in the road getting to where you want to be. Get focused and drink up as it tastes so good when you know what you want.

Point Two -Made from 60% post-consumable fibre = As a business owner you must keep your business vision moving. Flush out the toxic elements and people of your business and replace it those solutions and people that make sense and are considered healthy additions. Let these good decisions wash over your business continually so that you are not burdened with discomfort.

Point Three – Bucks & Fee – As a woman in business, you have to understand that even if you are heart-centered in your approach to serving with excellence, you are also worthy of making money for doing so. I mean it! Allow yourself the blessing of financial prosperity so that you can continue to pursue making a difference in the lives of others.

Final Point – Star – Be the STAR of your own life. Shine bright, accept compliments and continue to raise yourself to the highest level possible.

So there it is. I had so much fun writing this blog, I think I am going to make my way to Starbucks for a Caramel Macchiato and might even top it off with whipped cream!
