Don’t live on the sidelines but rather the sight-lines.

Wednesday, January 25th, 2012

I have started this new year tapping into what makes my heart sing and really trying to see my life through fresh eyes. Having the courage to cut off and say no and fully embrace those things that matter most,  and releasing those things that are not serving me in my best interest.

Recently my youngest child was diagnosed with a rare eye condition. We had no idea that for the past 10 years of his life, that he was seeing double every time he tried to read. As a result, he has struggled so much and has had numerous issues with school and of course we were told ADD, learning disorders etc…when all the time it was his actual eyes that were the issue. In just one surgery, his eyes have been repaired and he is now able to see the world crystal clear.

This moment has highlighted a real lesson for me. How many of us think that we are viewing and living our life through the right lens? It is great to know where we want to go but I somehow think that sometimes the path that we think we have chosen to take to get there isn’t the right path at all.

Many of are happy to declare that we are in it for the long haul; willing to persevere and continue on the hard road of achieving success. Take a moment to see the potential from all angles. You might just be surprised at the clarity this will bring.  Finding out that in fact the road doesn’t have to be that difficult at all. So glad my sight has been restored …how about yours?

Clarify your vision to find your path to perseverance

Are you living your life deliberately?

… or accidentally?

“The more boundless your vision, the more real you are.”

Go find your way

Vision

Are you living your life your way?  Is your career what you want it to be? Do you look forward with pleasure to going to your office each day? Or is it with a feeling of dread, with the knowledge that this is something you have to do only to make money. Are you reaching your personal goals?  Are your relationships all that you’ve dreamed? Are you the one that’s in control of your life?

We all end up somewhere in life. A few of us end up somewhere on purpose – those of us with vision.  Life just happens to those without. Vision provides the direction necessary to guide the course of your days and the life choices you make. It is the light shining in the darkness that illuminates your way.

Remember that success rarely happens by chance, but rather by design. If you have no plan for your future, then you will fall into someone else’s plan.

The Gift that keeps on giving.

Friday, July 29th, 2011

It can be lonely at the top at times.  As much as some semblance of control feels good, the awesome responsibility of leading others can at times prove to be overwhelming for some.  If you have ever experienced feelings of stress, loneliness, not feeling equipped or maybe you question how well you handle things, then maybe a leadership coach is for you. Someone, who can be there in the shadows as a support and a cheerleader for you as you navigate through the maze of figuring out your own leadership style; what works and what doesn’t work for you.

Can leadership coaching really lead to results?

Our hands on experience and research shows that it really can and does help to improve individual performance.  Think of coaching as four potential gifts you can give to yourself.

GIFT #1 – The GIFT of Understanding You. Coaching is about you and what the coaching process will do is give you a greater understanding of self and of contextual awareness. There is nothing more powerful than gaining insight about who you are and what you could be.

GIFT #2 – The GIFT of Understanding Others. The coaching process can help you to better understand why others might think and act the way they do. Having a coach to support you as you implement key actions for leading others can produce immeasurable long lasting positive for all involved and can really help to be a catalyst for positive change.

GIFT #3 – The GIFT of Becoming a Better Communicator As you communicate with your coach, you will not only learn valuable lessons on being coached but you will also navigate through problem solving, potential conflict and will learn ways to  improve how you convey what is important to you, to the business and to others.

GIFT #4 – The GIFT of Coaching Others One of the best ways to enhance your own ability to coach others is to be coached yourself.   Once you have experienced the value of coaching for your own development, you will be much more prepared to notice and leverage coaching opportunities with your team. This capacity will be a key differentiator between a good leader and a great one.

As with all coaching relationships, the only way to make it is a positive experience is through commitment. That is why leadership coaching is not for everyone. If you have no desire to change or grow and are not willing to work hard and make your development a priority, then coaching will be a waste of time and dollars. On the other hand, if you are ready for change, impact and terrific results and believe in yourself enough to invest in you future then coaching offers a tailored, focused way to connect your leadership development with your day-to-day work demands and impact your life in a way that could be transformational.

Creating JUICY Goals

Thursday, April 14th, 2011

Here is the fascinating shift that happens. Personal transformation does not come directly from setting your sights on the far off goal, or that 720 as we call it. Personal transformation is derived from the day to day implementation of thoughts, attitudes, actions, behaviors that are designed to achieve your 720.

As you become the artist of your own life, be sure to revisit how to set J-U-I-C-Y goals. If you do, peace will not be far behind.

JUST Say It
Be clear about you what you want. Don’t be afraid to stretch yourself or think big, but remember, you must be honest with yourself.

UNCOVER the Why
Always circle back to why this focus and activity is important to moving you forward to your 720.

INTENTIONAL Implementation
Daily actions and tasks that are focused on your 720 will always move you closer to
where you want to be. It’s the day to day tasks that get you moving. If you said it, you’ve committed to it and if you’ve committed to it, you better do something about it, otherwise your integrity is compromised and that goes directly back to your Value Statement.

CLARITY Breeds Consistency Be conscious of your 720 so that you continue to focus on the highest payback activities. Celebrate these moments and accomplishments as they happen. Success does not come when you achieve your 720, but actually occurs when you are LIVING 720.

YES, I Accept!
When you start truly LIVING 720, you will naturally start to ingrain your WHY and
your WHAT, receiving greater satisfaction in everything you do. Give yourself permission to evolve your 720 and accept what you can and cannot do. Just knowing what your priorities are in life will allow you to see tangible results.

The constant recommitment to your journey is a necessity to living a life with purpose, with intention.

So, how do I know if I have a succulent, JUICY life?

Well, my friends, you will know, without a doubt. It may be in the sense of peace and contentment or in an unbridled passion and giddiness for life. It may be when you are breathing in the crisp air on a fresh spring morning, from a mountain top on one of your adventures or as you are sitting in a double hammock for two with the one you love.

You see, the only person who can truly answer that question, is YOU!
