Apps That Make Your Work Life Easier.

  |   confidence, leadership, motivation   |   No comment

Staying organized remains a priority for busy professionals, but in this wonderful technology age, there are lots of options to keep track of everything important, even when you are constantly on the go.

We all have our favorite apps that help us do this, and today I will share some of mine and my friends and colleagues. It seems like every time we get together someone is describing a great new app, and often that leads me to try them later.

In terms of staying productive on all levels of life, there is an app called any.do moment (https://www.any.do/). It is immensely popular for those of us with really busy lives to keep track of.

It is free to download and unlike a traditional “to-do” list, it schedules tasks into four areas: today, tomorrow, upcoming and some day.

So far more than nine million people across the globe use this handy little app to keep both their professional and personal lives operating smoothly. I like that any.do seems to be built on the understanding that we have many aspects of our lives, and it is designed to keep them all in one place.

It actually syncs your personal tasks, work projects and shared lists so that every day you have one simple list to guide you through all your appointments and responsibilities.

As a bonus, it syncs your day planner across all your devices. So without leaving this single app, you can make calls, texts, and emails. It works for web, Android, iPhone, Mac and Chrome.

Another app that is useful if you have to manage content for you company is www.trello.com.

It allows you to keep track of your content ideas, your articles already written, and your articles that are edited and ready to go. You create cards and you can move the cards around if you want to change the order of things. While it works great for content management, you could also use it for task or project management.

There are a couple of other apps that make my life easier.

One is BizExpense to track your expenses when you are on the road a lot and not very good at keeping all of your receipts to be neatly filed afterwards. BizExpense (https://itunes.apple.com/ works for either your iPhone or iPad and easily helps you track your expenses daily. You can scan in your receipts on the spot, rather than shoving them into your wallet or pocket and then wasting half an hour when you get home to do it. The basic version of this app is free.

The author in me loves Dragon Dictation (https://www.nuance.com/) It lets me dictate my thoughts or a bit of research I am reading and then paste the text into other applications. The investment is reasonable, at $4.99. You can also use it on an Android phone, but you will need the voice to text app Flex T9 (http://www.androidtapp.com/flext9-speak-trace-write-tap/).
